As Newark Academy’s Assistant Head of School for Strategy & Operations, Lou Scerra designs and oversees the execution of NA’s school-wide strategy, serves as Board liaison, and co-leads the creation and implementation of the strategic plan. In this role, Lou partners with both academic and non-academic leaders, broadly ensuring that NA operates at its highest potential in alignment with its mission, goals, and strategic priorities. While at NA, Lou has held a wide variety of roles. He started his career in the classroom, teaching English and Theory of Knowledge, later serving as English Chair and Chair of the PD Committee. Outside the classroom, Lou previously served as head coach of the nationally-ranked varsity boys' and girls' tennis programs as well as faculty advisor to the school’s a cappella group, and Director of Institutional Research and Strategy. Lou holds a B.A. in English from Dartmouth College, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Emerson College, an M.A. in English from Fordham University, and an M.B.A. from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.
